Geordan Shannon

Co-Founder

Dr Geordan Shannon is a medical doctor and academic at the Institute for Global Health, University College London, and co-Founder of GHD. As a medic she has worked in various settings, including remote indigenous Australia, post-Tsunami Sri Lanka, the Peruvian Amazon, and rural Kenya. As an academic, she travels off the beaten track to innovate solutions to some of the world’s most pressing health problems, including cervical cancer, violence against women, and non-communicable diseases. She was recently awarded Young Australian of the Year in the UK in recognition of her contribution to health in rural and under-resourced communities around the world. She is inspired daily by her colleagues and the communities in which she works, and hopes to be able to translate at least some of this passion into action! When she is not travelling, she loves hiking, yoga, wine, and good sunsets.
